We at Union believe that as we encounter God in worship and community, we are equipped and inspired to commit ourselves to lives of love and service, based on the unique gifts God gives each of us.

Union participates in a variety of mission projects and offers several outreach opportunities.

Union Reaches Out Across the Globe

Union has participated in a number of mission projects that reach out into the world. In the past, Union has collected life jackets for our Global Mission partners at Christian Hospital in Mungeli, India; the life jackets allow children and staff to raft on the lake near the hospital. We are also thankful we are able to put together almost 200 health kits in response to the earthquake in Hati as well as send school backpacks for students in Honduras.

ACTS

ACTS (Area Churches Together Serving) is an outreach ministry of Oconee County churches. ACTS distributes food, clothing, and personal care items to needy families and is staffed by volunteers from participating churches. Union volunteers work at ACTS every other month, and collect food and clothing supplies throughout the year.

Local Benevolence

Union provides emergency assistance with rent and utilities to Oconee County residents through our partnership with Action, Inc. Union is also involved in a number of local outreach projects, including distributing food baskets to families at Thanksgiving, buying Christmas gifts for local children, nurturing our congregation's homebound members, collecting drink tabs for Ronald McDonald house, supporting the Oconee County School System Secret Santa program, providing meals for Project Safe, and many other missions. Through our Christian Women’s Fellowship and Disciples on Campus, Union helps with service projects like collecting stuffed animals for the fire department, providing birthday boxes through DFCS, collecting books for Forever Families and the Craddock Center, and others.

Youth on Mission

Union youth participate, along with the rest of the Union family, in serving our neighbors in our food box ministries, Operation Christmas Child, Souper Bowl of Caring, and even performing some manual labor for the local community. We look forward to many more opportunities to serve our community in the coming years.

Week of Compassion

Week of Compassion is the relief, refugee, and development fund for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Union receives a special offering each year to support this vital ministry.
